This is my first "Empties" post on the blog but certainly not my first ever. I've been posting about my empties on Instagram for years. I feel it's a quick way for me to give brief reviews of products I've not only tested but spent some serious time with.
Sometimes, we know whether or not we like a product from the first use. But often, our opinion changes as we continue to use them. To finish a product is to have come to know it on a much deeper level than a first impression. It's the difference between a first date and a long-term relationship.
In these posts, I include all sorts of products - makeup, haircare, skincare, etc., pretty much anything beauty-related.
So let's jump into some products I've finished in the last couple months:
Own Beauty Moisturizing Shave Gel ($4.99): So in case you don't know this about me, I prefer to use beauty products with clean ingredients, and this shave gel seemed pretty up to my standards. For a "clean" product, I thought it was pretty decent, lathering more than other clean gels I've tried but still not lathering up as well as your standard shaving cream. It smelled nice and I love that there were no added fragrances! I don't know if I would repurchase, but it's a pretty decent affordable option.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray ($33): My go-to, most trusted setting spray for makeup clients! My only complaint is that, like most setting sprays with a typical spray pump, it can sometimes leave droplets on the client's face. My second favorite, the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist, is a super fine mist so I want to see if I can trust that one better for clients before I repurchase this one.

ELF Restoring Facial Oil Mist ($5): I got this as a free gift with purchase and it was ok. They have a variety of these oil mists and this one was infused with rose oil which is not my favorite scent so maybe that’s why I didn’t love it. I do enjoy applying these types of sprays right before makeup, especially if there’s been some time between skincare and makeup application. But overall, it served its purpose and the price is great.

Thrive Causmetics Buildable Blur CC Cream in Light Medium ($38): I think this is my second tube and I’ve reviewed it on my foundation page. This is a great product but I’m not sure I’m sold on the price. I like that it blends easily, has SPF and clean ingredients, and gives a natural glow to the skin. It doesn’t have as much coverage as some similar CC creams I’ve tried from other brands but sometimes that’s what I want. This shade was good for me when I was tan, but I had to mix in a lighter one for these winter months. But it’s pretty neutral, maybe a little on the warm side. Long story short, it’s a great product and I would buy it again but I’d rather save money and use the ELF one.

Morphe M501 Pro Pointed Blender Brush ($10): I have to throw this out because it’s shedding too much. I’ve used it as a highlighting brush on clients and it’s great for that. The tapered shape helps apply products to precise areas and it’s fluffy enough to blend out the product well. I would repurchase, but I also think there's so many brushes out there that I would prefer to try others first.

Thrive Causmetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara ($24): I’ve just accepted that I’m committed to this mascara. We’re in a serious relationship. It’s like I know it has its flaws but I’ve accepted them because we just work well together lol. Although it is not the best in terms of volume and separating lashes, I can’t get over the way it comes off! I don’t want to use anything else anymore. It’s just so worth it to know my mascara is completely off and I won’t wake up with any smudgy residue.

IT Cosmetics Celebration Powder Foundation in Medium ($39.50): I’m not big on powder foundations since I like fuller coverage, but I’ll sometimes use them as setting powders to add more coverage. Since this was a darker shade for my skin tone, I used this to set my cheek area before contouring. I feel like there are really good affordable powders and this is very pricy so I won’t be repurchasing.

Bite Beauty Agave+ Intensive Lip Mask ($26 for full size): I loved all the Agave+ products from Bite! This mask is thicc so I used it after using their lip scrub twice a week. I don’t think it’s a necessity or that it made a big difference in my lips but it does feel luxurious. I love lip products with clean ingredients so I don't feel weird about accidentally consuming it when I eat and drink. I also like the smell/taste of these products - so yummy!

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray ($29 for full size): I know nothing about this brand or these types of products, but it came free with an Ulta purchase. I’m blessed that I don’t have issues sleeping so I can’t be a good judge of this. If you like relaxing lavender scents to help you sleep, you might like this.
